The Athens Review
Joyce Knott Ellis, 74, of Waxahachie peacefully passed away in Dallas on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Joyce was born on April 27, 1939 to the late Joe Sidney Knott and Johnnie Alice Groom Knott. She married the love of her life, the late Charles Donnan Everett in 1957.
Though they divorced years later, they remained the best of friends throughout the years. From this union came their three wonderful children Donna, Jeffrey and Suzanne. Joyce enjoyed her life and left a legacy of caring for others.
She was a long time employee of Renfro Nursing Center and Waxahachie Care, and an active member of the A.A. community for more than 40 years. Fishing, Cardinal watching, and spending time with her family were things that she cherished the most. As mentioned by a family friend, her life was an adventure, and she loved to laugh. She made a positive impact on everyone who knew her, and will be missed by all.
Her survivors include her three children, Donna (Jesse) Valladarez, Jeffrey Everett and Suzanne Carista; grandchild Jessica Valladarez; siblings, Johnny (June) Knott, Billie (Chuck) Gullick, Bobby (Virginia) Knott, Joann (Jack) Carlisle, and her 11 beloved animals, as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Athens.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
