Hazel (Mills) Dalton was born May 26, 1921 in Athens to Irvin and Annie Mills, and passed from this life on Thursday, March 14, 2013 in Sherman at the age of 91.
Hazel was raised and graduated from Athens schools in 1939. Hazel married James A. Dalton on Jan. 3, 1943 in Grand Prairie. She worked as a homemaker, and was a very gifted seamstress, and made clothes for many family members.
Hazel was a longtime member of Crutchfield Heights Baptist Church, where she was very involved with the bereavement committee in making meals for families when needed. She loved her church, and she enjoyed making lunch for students at Grayson County College. She was very active at working in her yard, and growing gardens.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband James on June 20, 2000, daughter Paula Dalton, and three brothers.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Dalton of Pearland, Linda Dalton and Sonny Riddle of Whitesboro, and Jean Mackey and husband Gary of Sherman, granddaughters Sarah Wetzel and husband Brandon of Telephone, and Cristin Boydstun and husband Bruce of Mesquite, great-grandsons John Isaac Wetzel and James William Wetzel, and a brother Van Mills and wife Vera of San Angelo.
Services to celebrate Mrs. Dalton’s life were held on Saturday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m. in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Stewart officiating. Interment followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. The family received friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday at Waldo Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home Hospice 505 W. Center St. Sherman, TX 75090.
