Vonnie Faye Eads, 88, of Tyler went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2013.
Born July 23, 1924 in Alba, she was the daughter of the late James Roldon Gray (from York, Ala.) and Melissa Bell (Fields) Gray (from Maniton, Ky.). Vonnie graduated from Alba High School in 1942.
Family and friends were Vonnie’s passion and delight. She had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Sylvania Baptist Church. Over the years, she had become very involved as a pastor’s wife, and assisted in numerous church events, and loved to host and entertain members of her church.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, the Rev. Billy B. Eads; brothers, Virgil Gray and Vernon Gray; sisters, Vivian Reed, Velma Rives, Vada Caldwell; stepbrother Lawrence Pennington and stepsister Olive Snider Strole.
She is survived by: her sons Gerard Eads and his wife, Debbie of Grandbury and Galen Eads of Winona; grandchildren, Tanya Maness of Arlington and Brandon Eads of Azle.
The family will receive friends at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler at 10 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2013. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Edward Lewis officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Monday at Oaklawn Memorial Park, 3100 FM 317, Athens.
