Athens —
Barbara Ann Smith passed away on Monday, Jan. 28,2013, after a long battle with cancer, which she fought for over two years.
Born on Sept. 9, 1948 in Tyler, she taught as a Special Education Assistant at Brownsboro Independent School District for 20 years, and even after diagnosed, continued to work with their athletic booster club. She was loved by all.
She has three children: John Smith, Sara Huddleston and husband Tracy Huddleston, Jamie Redmon and husband Stephen Redmon; grandchildren Sidney and wife Sarah, Breanna, Jordan, Haley, Jakob, and Elijah, all of Athens.
She is also survived by nephew Troy Vaughn, Jr. and wife Brenda Vaughn, niece Sheryl Sims, and numerous great nieces and nephews, all of Murchison.
She is preceded in death by siblings Betty Vaughn and Welton Everett Brown, mother Lola Mae Brown and father Welton Boyd Brown.
The family would like to thank Browsboro ISD and their Athletic Booster Club, Workforce Solutions of East Texas, Dr. C. Ted Mettetal, Dr. Oo and Athens Oncology staff, ETMC Athens, and the many friends and family who have stood by her side.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Brownsboro High School Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. to honor her legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations at Woodforest National Bank to the Barbara Smith Cancer Fund.

Danny John Stowell, Jr. (DJ) of Winfield, Kans. passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 near Newkirk, Okla. He was born July 22, 1983 in Winfield, Kans. He graduated from Winfield High School in 2001, and was employed with Creekstone Farms in Arkansas City, Kans.
