Athens — MURCHISON-Services for Joe Baily Murry, 91, Murchison were held at 2 p.m., Monday at First Baptist Church in Murchison with Tony Murry officiating.

Burial followed in Red Hill Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mr. Murry died Jan. 5, 2013 in Athens.

He was born May 15, 1921 in Murchison to the late John Wesley and Mattie Lou Cook Murry. Joe resided in Dallas from 1952 until 1970, where he worked as a shipping clerk and dock foreman. After returning to Murchison, he was a farmer, rancher and was self-employed in the construction business. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Murchison, and served as a deacon.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Ella Hamill Murry, Feb. 6, 1994, grandsons Ricky Joe Murry, Matthew Murry, six brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include sons Joe Hamill Murry and wife Yvonda, Murchison, Carlton Francis Murry and wife Mary, Murchison, Thomas Earl Murry and wife Dottie, Mineola, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Johne Meuir, Josh Cade, Brent Kalas, Michael Murry, Todd Sissom and William Calvert.
