Graveside Services for Cody Ray Carter, 31, of Canton, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Dec. 28, 2012 at Cox Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Parr officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
He passed away Dec. 23, 2012 in Canton.
Mr. Carter was born Sept. 4, 1981 in Mesquite, to David and Shirley Shewmaker Carter.
Cody was a member of the Little Hope Baptist Church. He grew up in Canton, attended Martins Mill Schools and served in the U.S. Army. Cody enjoyed fishing, hunting and anything outside. He was a talented mechanic who could fix almost anything. He was kind-hearted, and helped anyone in need. Cody was a loving husband, father, son and brother.
Surviving are wife, JoDawn Carter of Canton, parents, David and Shirley Carter of Canton, son, Tyler Carter of Canton, son, Billy Joe Carter of Canton, son, Joshua Carter of Canton, brother, Michael Wayne Shreves of Canton, sister, Ginger and David James of Athens, grandmother, Helen Carter of Athens, grandmother, Gladys Milam of Gun Barrel City, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, Joe and Donna Williams of Rusk.
Cody was preceded in death by his grandfather, Carl Carter, grandfather, Melvin Milam and uncle, Wayne Shewmaker.
Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Carter, Billy Joe Carter, Joshua Carter, Joe Williams, Ron Lester, Mike Sigler and Jeremy Meridith.
