Jim Browning

The Athens Review

Athens — Beloved husband, father, grandfather Jim Browning, 84, was killed in an automobile accident May 4, 2013 in Truth or Consequences, N.M. He was born Nov.  4, 1928 in Athens, to Verge Wyatt and Vada Jeannettie Clanton Browning. He worked at Shamrock Dairy in Phoenix, Ariz. as a top merchandiser for over 30 years.

After retirement Jim and Betty spent time back on the farm in Athens, then later moved to their current home in Nogal, N.M., where he served as president for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s posse. He is survived by his wife for over 20 years, Betty Browning, his brother Rex Browning of Athens, sons Daniel and Patrick Browning both of Arizona, 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Betty’s children, Mark Sheldon, Vicki Campbell, Carol Farr and their families also felt Jim’s unconditional love that he had for all his family. He will be sorely missed by friends and family, but would want us all to continue working, smiling and singing until we meet again.

The family will hold a Celebration of Jim Browning's Life on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lincoln County Sheriff’s Posse Headquarters, Highway 54, Carrizozo, N.M.
