ATHENS-Services for Martin Glenn Byquist, 54, Athens, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday at Bethel Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Rawlins and the Rev. Mike Baldwin officiating.
Marty went to his heavenly home Feb. 17, 2014.
He was born Aug. 6, 1959 in Bloomington, Ill. to Clarence and Janet Carl Byquist. After his graduation from high school where he played football, Marty spent three years in the U.S. Navy. He had resided in Texas the past 14 years, and worked a few years as a mechanic.
He then went to Trinity Valley Community College truck-driving school. He drove six years for Swift Trucking, then recently was employed by County Line Express at Walton. Marty loved riding his motorcycle, caring for his cows and spending time with his dog “Buddy.”
He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, father Clarence Byquist, brother Robert Byquist, stepfather Blue Coker and step-nephew Andy Coker.
Survivors include: mother Jan Coker; sister Gail Saia (Jim); fiancé Cherrie Rogers; stepbrothers Kent Coker (Jan), Rick Coker (Lyenette), Neil Coker (Cherryl); uncles Larry Carl (Judy), Tom Carl (Enid); aunt Linda Kelley (Mike); several cousins; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
Marty will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday at the church.
