Athens- Funeral services for Roberta Faye Stanfield, 73, Athens, have been scheduled for Thursday June 27, 2013 at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Fondren officiating. Burial will follow in Trinidad Cemetery.
Roberta passed away on June 21, 2013 in Athens.
She was born June 30, 1939 in Stratford, Okla. to the late William and Gladys Beckham Blackburn. Roberta graduated from Joshua High School in Joshua, Texas. At an early age, she married Sherrell Jones and they had three sons. Roberta married again on May 18, 1986 to Tilmon Jarrett Stanfield who already had two daughters and one son.
Roberta worked most of her life for different telephone companies as an operator and in customer service. She retired from the Phone Company in Athens.
Roberta always loved the outdoors. She would spend the whole day outside making the yard beautiful. Roberta always had fun no matter what she was doing. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and spent the last few years in South Place nursing center.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Tilmon Jarrett Stanfield in 1995, sisters Numajean and Willene.
Survivors include: sons, Scott Duane Jones and his wife True, Swain, N.Y., Travis Leon Jones, Athens, Michael Eric Jones and wife Diane, Garland; grandchildren Sherrel, Brittany, Zachary and Anthony; stepdaughters Terry Stanfield and Lisa Gevas, and stepson David Stanfield; and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday.
