Barbara Allen Bates, long time resident of Malakoff, passed away on July 8, 2013 at her home. She was born on Feb. 25, 1936 in Kaufman to Brown and Ruby Rackley.
Barbara was a beautician in Malakoff for many years. She enjoyed searving the community from her little shop connected to her house.
She is survived by: her daughter, Paula Kelly Rivas and husband Elias; daughter Regina Kelly Tremmel; grandchildren Zack Kelly and wife Natalie, Angela Andrews and husband Shun Cameron and Dalton David Tremmel; great-granddaughter Hellen Cameron. She is also survived by her nephews Kevin Airheart, Robert Reno, Calvin Reno, Jerry Paul Sayas and wife Jennifer; and daughter Jasmin and many life-time friends.
Barbara is preceeded in death by her parents, Brown and Ruby Rackley; stepfather Joe Miller; husband James Bates; daughter Pam Kelly; nephew Jody Miller; brother Jerry Miller; sister Brenda Sayas; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation for Ms. Bates will be Thursday, July 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Services will be Friday, July 12 at 10 a.m. at the Malakoff First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Trinidad Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Farmer, Tammy Tate, Cathy Waugh, Salton Tremmel, Calvin Reno, Kevin Airheart, Elias Rivas and Gil Musick. Honorary pallbearers will be Buster Carter, Clyde Baker, Doyle Scott, Ricky Armstrong, David Tremmel, Rob Reno and Jerry Sayas and special friends Fayrene Newell and Sonita Dingler Perkins.
