ATHENS-Services for Esther Reynolds Edwards, 95 of Athens are scheduled for 3:00 P M Monday in Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Dr. C. W. Bess officiating.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park.
Esther passed away Friday in Athens.
She was born March 8, 1919 in Henderson County to the late Turner and Millie Reeves Reynolds. Esther started her education at College of Marshall then Hardin Simmons University graduating Magna Cum Laude with a major in English and minor in Spanish. She received her Masters from University of Houston and worked on her Doctorate at East Texas State University in Commerce. Esther taught school 44 years. She started in Bandera in a one room school house. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church and taught young people and adult Sunday school many years.
Esther is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Boyce Edwards, sister Vera Jo Rowell and brother Truitt Reynolds
Survivors include nieces Joan Williams, Nacogdoches, Patti Edwards, Colleyville; great nephews Paul Williams, Palestine, Greg Edwards, Plano, Ken Edwards, Chicago; great nieces Suzanne Roberts, Killeen, Rosemary Leach, Houston and Hillary Yancey, Dallas; numerous great great nieces and nephews, Jan Richardson, caregiver.
Pallbearers will be Paul Williams, Greg Edwards, Ken Edwards, Steve Grant, Aubrey Jones, Ron Adcock.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kenneth Lemmon, Bill McNatt, Bill Cleveland, Russ Richardson, Mike Head, Fred Head.
Visitation for family and friends will be 2:00 P M until service time Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Youth or Missions, 105 South Carroll, Athens, Texas 75751.
