Athens – Graveside services for Elizabeth Hood , 91, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at Oaklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Frank Upchurch officiating.
Ms. Elizabeth Hood went to be with her husband Cecil and her Lord on Sept. 25, 2012 in Athens.
Elizabeth E. Hood was born Dec. 1, 1920 in Paducah, the daughter of Van Monroe Herrington and Mattie Belle Burch Herrington.
Ms. Hood was a Baptist, and a member of the Central Baptist Church in Athens for many years. She was very proud of the fact that she was a lifetime member of the Athens Hornets Booster Club.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting, dominoes and loved her Dallas Cowboys. She was a loving mother and Granny, and will be greatly missed by all she knew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Cecil Carl Hood, two brothers, William Monroe “Buck” Herrington, Elsie Lee “Johnny” Herrington and two sisters, Lola Faye Kinabrew, Nannie Mae Herrington.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Glenn and wife Carolyn Hood of LaRue, her daughter, Betty and husband Larry Christian of LaRue, her grandchildren, Blake and David Hood, Larry, Tracy, Brad, and Shane Adair, 14 great-grandchildren and a special friend James Simpson.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
Pallbearers will be Larry, Tracy, Brad and Shane Adair, David and Blake Hood, Steve Proza and James Simpson.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
