Ruth Stepherson

Athens — BROWNSBORO-Graveside services for Ruth Stepherson, 80, Brownsboro are scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday at Jennings Mountain Cemetery with the Rev. Macjohn Bagley officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Faith Baptist Church in Brownsboro.

Mrs. Stepherson died Sept. 23, 2012 in Athens.

She was born June 5, 1932 in Crockett to the late Clem and Pearl Masters Smith. Ruth was a graduate of Grapeland High School. She had been a resident of Brownsboro 50 years, where she served a 25-year tenure with Brownsboro Independent School District as secretary to the superintendent. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband James Hugh Stepherson, a son Richard W. Stepherson, two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include sons, Joe Michael Stepherson and wife Melisa, Brownsboro, Jon Paul Stepherson, Anna, sister Erie Grant, Corsicana, grandchildren Lara Driehurst and husband Michael, Dylan Stepherson, great-granddaughter Kate Michelle Driehurst, numerous nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Alliance of Northeast Texas, Inc., 211 Winchester Dr., Tyler, TX 75701-8847.
