Garry G. Stewart passed from this life Monday, Sept. 2, 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He had lived in Larue for 32 years . Garry was born Monday, Sept. 11, 1933 in Cumby to the late St. Elmo and Annie N Stewart.
He spent four years in the U.S. Navy serving on several aircraft carriers including the U.S.S Boxer and the U.S.S Midway during the Korean War era. After discharge, he married Geraldine Rominger, and to this union was born six children, two of whom preceded him in death, daughter Patricia (1985) and son Mark (1977).
He is survived by Joyce Prather and our of his six children, Donna (Stewart) Villines, Garry Glen Stewart, Mary Stewart, Dennis Stewart and his siblings, Jack Stewart, Duane Stewart, Dahlia (Stewart) Money, as well as his nephew and niece, Scott Stewart, Tammy (Stewart) Mayfield. He is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.
Garry was well-known for his passion of guitar playing and singing country and western music. And had played with a number of bands throughout his life.
Family members will gather for his memorial on Sept. 15, 2013.
