ATHENS-Funeral Services for Rodney Hardin, 78, of Star Harbor are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday at Lake Athens Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Curry and the Rev. Olin Boles officiating.
Burial will follow in Goodgame Cemetery.
Mr. Hardin passed away Nov. 15, 2013 in Tyler.
He was born Nov. 9, 1935 in LaRue to the late Paul and Florence Lindsey Harden. Rodney was a lifelong resident of Henderson County, and had resided in Star Harbor the past 10 years. He was a member and deacon of Lake Athens Baptist Church. Rodney worked more than 15 years driving for Curtis Mathes, then was owner and operator of T & H Trucking for 15 years. He loved his cows and enjoyed talking and visiting with friends. Rodney loved his family and worshiped his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Hardin, and sisters Helen Sue Shifrin, Carle Smith and Rose Carter.
Survivors include: his wife of 10 years Ann Hardin, Star Harbor; son Clay Tompkins and wife Tina, Athens; stepsons Don McCord and wife Tammra, Mexia, Brian McCord and wife Shannon, Boca Roton, Fla., Steve McCord and wife Teresa, Mabank; brother Bill Harden and wife Patsy, Frankston; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Daryl Starkes, Fredye Quain, Joe Godwin, John Warren, Brad Forester, Bryan Forester and Phillip Fields.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lake Athens Baptist Church Deacons and Yokefellows.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake Athens Baptist Church Parking Lot Fund or Deacons Fund, 3270 CR 4807, Athens, TX 75751.
