Funeral Services for Dorothy Mae Jackson will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church, Malakoff, under the direction of Cain-Brown Memorial, Malakoff, with the Rev. Vincent Bailey Jr., Officiator, and the Rev. Carl E. Woodard, Eulogist. Interment will be at Steen Cemetery, Malakoff.
Dorothy Mae Jackson went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 in Athens. She was born on July 3,1926 to the late Cleveland King Sr. and Liza Jane King.
She met and married Oresta Jackson, and to this union, one daughter, Karen Jackson, was born. She was a devoted member of the Antioch Baptist Church until her health failed her. She served as a Deaconess. She left a mark with her rendition of the song, "Walk on by Faith."
She received her formal education from Dawson ISD. She was a licensed beautician.
She was preceded in death by: parents, Cleveland King, Sr. and Liza Jane Eubanks; spouse of 56 years, Oresta "Grey Mule" Jackson; brother, Cleveland King, Jr.
She leaves to continue her legacy; daughter Karen Jackson Green, Malakoff; sisters, Verna Mae Turner, Malakoff, Barbara (Claude) Spence, Ferris and Linda Jones, Cedar Hill; sisters-in-law, Ruby Jackson, Killeen and Violet Jackson, Malakoff; granddaughter, Gail Carter, Malakoff; great-grandchildren, C.J. and Cortlynn; special friend and caregiver, April Franks, Malakoff; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
