Mary Lillian Coldiron

Athens — Services for Mary Lillian Coldiron, of Eustace, were held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Chapel. Mary was born on Aug. 14, 1920 in Tadmor to parents Richard Calvin Conner and Ethel Mae (Brent) Conner, and entered into eternal rest on Oct. 9, 2013 at the age of 93.

Mary was known as “Nanny” by her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mary could be a very stubborn and strong-willed woman, but very loving and kindhearted. She had a strong passion for cooking and had a great talent for making homemade fried pies.

Mary enjoyed animals and raised Budgee birds and Canaries for pet stores in Dallas. She loved working in the children’s nursery at her church. Mary was an avid reader and loved reading her Louis Lamour novels.

She attended school in Palestine and was a truck driver for over 25 years. Mary owned one of the first Southern Maid Donut shops in Dallas. She was Baptist by faith, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Ethal Conner, husband Roy Denver Coldiron, son Ross David Conner, daughter Kay Dodd and brother Homer Conner.

She is survived by: her daughter, Joyce (Jody) Minton and husband Harold of Athens: sons Art Palmer and wife Becky of Waxahachie, Mike Coldiron and wife Patsy of Quinlan; grandchildren, Jennie Pfoh and husband Wally, Crystal Holt and husband Greg, Emilie Worsham, Courtney Edwards and husband, Whitney Hill and husband, Libby Jones, Ginger Dodd, Rick Dodd, Chris Cabiness, Yvette Woods; 28 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; other loving family member and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association at
