Mr. Eddie Rascoe Fender, 75, of Athens went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.
He was born Aug. 24, 1938, in Bowie to Errett and Eula Mae Fender. Throughout his life he was an avid coon hunter. He won numerous awards and achieved many goals along the way.
Eddie was preceded in death by: a son, Ricky Lee Fender; brothers, Errett Fender, Jr. and Floyd Fender; sister, Margret Blue; his parents; and a granddaughter, Christie Faulkner.
He is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Gearl Dean Fender; brother, Herbert Fender and his wife Loretta; sister, Lahoma Allen and husband Bill; daughters, Lavon Burton and husband Mitch and Sharron Florence and husband Keith; and sons, Eddie Fender and Lonnie Fender and wife Kathy.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Danny and Donna Honea, Fay and Tim Corey, Justin and Julie Florence, Jennifer and Jason Chaffins, Mitch Burton Jr., Chad and Jennifer Honea, Mandy and Josh Brittain, Lee Boy Fender, Angel and Matt Woodard, Samantha Florence and Brian Smith, Jessica and Jacob Bowman; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the Virginia Hill Baptist Church, 8944 County Road 4613, Athens, TX 75752. Family will receive friends at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church before the service.
