The Athens Review
Our kind, loving husband and father, Johnny Edward Camp, went to meet Jesus on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013.
All who knew him will testify he never had a bad thing to say about anyone. It would be difficult to find someone who did not like Johnny Camp.
Born in Elkhart on Sept. 1, 1929 to Walter Raleigh Camp and Lydia Ellen Michael Camp, he lived most of his life in Athens, where he worked as the Mechanical Supervisor at the Athens Daily Review for 40 years.
Mr. Camp is survived by: his loving wife, Ophelia Camp; son, Mike Camp, Athens; daughters, Janet Cross, Quitman, Ark., and Donna Perry, Lindale; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at Lake Athens Baptist Church, 5151 FM 2495, Athens, at 1 p.m. Please join us as we honor the life of a wonderful man.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the East Texas Chapter, American Parkinson Disease Association, 700 Olympic Plaza, Suite 906, Tyler, TX 75701. Please help cure this devastating disease.
