Memorial for Barbara Green Creel is scheduled for 2 p.m., Nov. 17, 2013 at Midway Baptist Church with James Johnston officiating. Barbara passed away peacefully on Sept. 16, 2013 surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 16,1933, the eldest child of five to John Elton Green and Thirsey Clakley Green. Barbara moved to Houston where she met and married James A. Creel.
She was owner of Barbie's Buttons and Bows a private preschool and kindergarten. Barbara worked for TVCC after moving back to East Texas in 1980.
Barbara loved the Lord, and lived her life selflessly helping others. Family was very important to Barbara, so she was always there to help out with grandchildren's homework or whatever needed to be done.
Barbara was preceded in death by: her husband of 53 years, James A Creel; sister Sandra Little; brother Charles Green; and close friend Maria de Jesus Madera Roman.
She is survived by: son John Creel Sr ( Cindy ); daughter-in-law Brenda LaDue (Larry) both of Palestine; stepdaughter Linda Cabrera (Porcoro) of Waskom; sisters Mary Davis (Buck) of Palestine, Lynda Walker (Jim) of LaRue; sister-in-law Faye Green of Leander; brother-in-law Coy Little of Frankston; and close friend Terry Roman (Martha) of Palestine; grandsons John Creel (Laura) and James Creel (Tracey) both of Palestine and Joel Creel of Sasebo, Japan; five great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren, step -great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
