Bernice Brooks Gregory

ATHENS  — Recitation of the Rosary for Bernice Brooks Gregory,90, of Athens is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel in Athens. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Athens, with Father Pancras Savarimuthu, and Father Freddy Celano, Celebrants   

Mrs. Gregory went to be with her Lord and Savior December 20, 2012 with her loving daughters at her side.

She was born May 10, 1922 in Dallas to the late Clytus G. and Pearl Davis Glanton.

Bernice was a beautician and attended the Old London Beauty School. She was active in St Augustine Church in Dallas for many years and was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Athens. She was  a member of East Texas Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary for 33 years, VFW Women's Auxiliary 4133, Trinidad, y, active in Girl Scouts Tejas Council 25 years. She was an outstanding girls scout leader and God blessed her children with such an Awesome mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother in law and a great friend to all she ever met. God blessed her with the spiritual gift of Love.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Proceeding Bernice in death are her husbands and the father of her children,   James Brooks, January 29, 1975, Johnie Gregory, 1986, Jimmy Rogers, 2000, daughter, Linda Jo Ewell, 1993, brother, James Robert Glanton, and sister Margie Glanton Reuck.

Survived by her daughters, Sandra Becker and her husband Albert, Houston, Mechele Manchen and her husband Randall, Garland, Sherrie Borders, Houston, Mary Shelton and her husband Scot, Wilmer, son in law Leslie Ewell and his wife Eileen, Bedford, grandchildren, Leslin Hopson, Lisa Collins, Leslie Ewell, II, Lankford Ewell, Lawrence Ewell, Monte Becker, Ronald Becker, Major Russell Becker, Kayse Guerin, Dr.Karen Deanda, Carrie Manchen, Brandy Litchfield, Patrick Borders, Chris Borders, Stoney Shelton, Chad Shelton, Zach Shelton, sister, Mary Forestor,Athens, cousin, Mary Jo Barstow, Athens, numerous other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Borders, Chris Borders, Stoney Shelton, Chad Shelton, Major Russell Becker, Lawrence Ewell.

Honorary pallbearers Monte Becker, Ronald Becker, Lankford Ewell, Leslie Ewell, II, and Zach Shelton.

In lieu of flowers, family request that donations be made to East Texas Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, or to St. Edwards Catholic Church, Athens, Texas.
