FRANKSTON - Services for Sally Ann Smith Slaughter, 71, Frankston, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday at First Presbyterian Church.
Sally left us to be with her Heavenly Father March 12, 2013 in Tyler.
She was born July 3, 1941 in Dallas to the late Miles Bruce and Eddie Blanche Barfoot Smith. Mom spent her early years in Athens, and moved to Dallas at the age of seven. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1959. Mom went to The University of Texas at Austin where she was a longhorn singer. She was employed at Trinity Valley Community College from 1982, until her retirement in May, 2000. While at TVCC, she made lifelong friends that she cherished deeply, especially those in her beloved “Lunch Bunch.” Throughout Mom’s life, she faced many obstacles and challenges with her health. Her strong faith in the Lord always got her through whatever she faced, saying “He always takes care of me, and I will never be afraid.”
Sally leaves behind, to cherish her memories, her son Daniel Joseph Slaughter, Jr., Michigan, daughters Rebecca Ann Love, Dallas, Theresa Womack and husband Brad, Frankston, Debbie Bumbard and husband Blake, Garland, grandchildren Daniel Robert Love, Washington, D. C., Shelby Eleyse Womack, Braden Robert Womack, Emily Paige Womack, all of Frankston, Chloe Catherine Bumbard, Wylie, Katie Elizabeth Bumbard, Garland, sister Sunny Smith Hall and husband Arthur, Athens, as well as two nephews and one niece whom she dearly loved.
A visitation for family and friends is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
