James ‘Buck’ Cure

Athens — ATHENS-Services for James S. “Buck” Cure, 87, Athens were held 11 a.m., Wednesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel .

Burial followed in Davis Cemetery.

Mr. Cure died Monday, April 8, 2013 in Athens.

He was born May 12, 1925 in Athens to John and Mattie Jemmerson Cure, and was a lifelong resident of the community. “Buck” worked 40 years in the oil field. He loved tending his cows, being outside working on his farm and enjoying nature.

He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law Nancy Cure.

Survivors include wife of 66 years, Doris Cure, Athens; sons James Michael Cure, Norman, Okla., Karl Cure, Athens; sister Helen Ward, Dallas; and grandson Justin Michael Cure, Dallas.

Serving as honorary pallbearer was Dr. Richard David.
