TL “Butch” Vaughn passed away on March 20, 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Butch was born on June 9, 1941 in Murchison, Texas, to JT and Vera Lee Brown Vaughn.
Butch was a member of the Iron Workers Union that eventually lead to a long career as a construction superintendent. He served as president of the Athens Riding Club in 1971 and was a member of the Athens Masonic Lodge, Sharon Shrine Temple of Tyler, and Waco Scottish Rite.He was a proud member of the 1958 and 1959 Athens football teams.
In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his daughter Tracie Lynn Vaughn; brothers Earlie Vaughn, Troy Vaughn, and Jack Vaughn; and his sister Geneva Vaughn Metcalfe.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eleanor Vaughn; daughter Gina Vaughn Stokes of Murchison; son and daughter-in-law Dustin and Mindy Vaughn of Overland Park, Kansas; Four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
