Linda J. Jones, 68, of Hewitt, Texas, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at Malakoff Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Marshall officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco.
Born Feb. 11, 1945 in Malakoff, to John and Louise Shumate, Linda attended school and graduated from Malakoff High School with honors.
Linda married John Richard Jones on Aug. 3, 1963. Linda traveled with the love of her life from San Antonio to Colorado Springs, Colo. to RAF Mildenhall, England and to Alamogordo, N.M., and was the prime example of an Air Force wife.
During John's many stations of service, Linda worked as a bookkeeper, volunteered for Family Services and was voted Volunteer of the Year, worked at Fort Sam Houston Bank, Western Bank, and Waco State Bank in Waco.
Linda loved to work with her ceramics, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hewitt. She loved her grandchildren dearly.
Preceding her in death are her parents, John and Louise Shumate and brother-in-law, Norman Millican.
Linda is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Richard Jones, daughter Lisa Czajkowski and husband Anthony, son Mark Jones, grandchildren Krysten, Scott, Jake, and Schuyler, brother Doyle Shumate and Polly of Maybank, sister Shirley Millican of Irving, sister Barbara Hearn and husband Jack of Star Harbour, sister Quieva Williams and husband Glenn of Gun Barrell City, sister Mary Carter and husband Fred, brother Wayne Shumate and wife Rebecca of Palestine, brother Jerry Shumate of Irving, sister Marsha Grant and husband Phillip of Plano, sister in law Linda Chamberland and husband Bob of Waxahachie, and numerous extended family and friends.
