Melvin Walter Cawthon of Mabank, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at East Texas Medical Center.  Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey.

Melvin was born Oct. 7, 1937, in Waco to Nathan and Leo Cawthon.  He worked at Quinius Pest Control for 25 years.  He enjoyed artwork, took an avid interest in world events, and being with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Leo Viva Cawthon; a brother, Leo Cawthon; and a daughter, Karen Denijse Cawthon.

He is survived by three sons, Nathan Cawthon of Mabank, Carl Cawthon of Eustace, and Dale Cawthon and wife, Lynn, of McKinney; seven grandchildren, Justin, Alissa, Matthew, Michael, Brandon, Karen and Shelbi Cawthon.
