James N. ‘Jim’ Splawn

ATHENS — ATHENS-Services for James “Jim” Splawn, 88, Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday in Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Arnold Walker officiating.

Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Splawn went to be with his Lord and Savior Dec. 19, 2012.

He was born Oct. 21, 1924 in Belton to the late James and Lillie Splawn, and had resided in Henderson County most of his life. He married Juanita Jones Dec. 24, 1949 in Athens. Jim served a 25-year tenure with Texas Department of Transportation retiring in 1974. He was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church.

Jim was preceded in death by a daughter Venita Splawn.

Survivors include wife of 62 years Juanita Splawn, Athens, son Jimmy Splawn and wife Deborah, daughter Brenda Splawn, brother Bobby Gene Splawn, all of Athens, sisters Eva Jo Busch, Maypearl, Betty Ruth Thomas, Athens, four grandchildren, one great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Randy Brown, Larry Busch, Stevie Splawn, Matt Splawn, Gary Splawn and Lance Splawn.

Visitation for family and friends will be 9 a.m., until service time.
