Juanita Mae ‘Nita’ Tant

Athens — Services for Juanita Mae "Nita" Tant, 92, of Eustace, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday Dec. 9, 2012 at Eubank Chapel with the Rev. Steve Glosup officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.

Burial will be in Haven of Memories, Canton.

She passed away Dec. 5, 2012 in Eustace.

Mrs. Tant was born Sept. 20, 1920 in Baird, to William Johnathan and Fannie Frances Rogers Montgomery.

Nita grew up in Canton as a child. She was a Baptist by faith. Nita was married to her husband, Thelbert, for 50 years. She retired from Texas Instruments as an Inspector Machine Operator. She also worked for Collins Radio in Electronics. During WWII, she worked as a Riveter and Welder.

Nita enjoyed fishing, her flower garden, and Christmas was her favorite holiday.  She loved spending time with her husband, children, grandkids and adopted kids from all around the neighborhood. She was a great cook.

Surviving are husband Thelbert Martin Tant of Eustace, son Bonny Louis and Jeanette Sumner of Canton, son Tony Eugene and Becky Tant of Arlington, daughter Judith Ann (Jo Jo) and Greg Griffey of Eustace, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, brother, Leonard Montgomery of Austin, sister Doris Asp of Minnesota, other relatives and friends.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Bill, Lloyd, Harvey, Marvin, Melvin and Roy, four sisters, Jewell, Ruth, Clauda and Lorene.

Pallbearers are Trey Rohrbacker, Christian Ivey, Greg Williams, Cory Dowdy, Ricky Terrell, Lenny Thorn and Kenny Thorn.

Family will receive friends Saturday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
