PEGGY RUTH (Moma Peg) Lemons Davis

Athens — ATHENS- Funeral services for Peggy Ruth  (Moma) Lemons Davis, 79, of Ben Wheeler, formerly of Athens, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct.10, 2012, at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel, Athens, with the Rev. Donald Thomas and Mike Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery, Murchison.

Mrs. Davis died Sunday morning at Mother Frances Hospital, Tyler.

She was born Oct. 28, 1932 in Trinidad to the late Clifton Sherwood and Lela Hughes Hatton.

Peggy was a resident of Ben Wheeler for the past 20 years, formerly of Athens. She was a graduate of Malakoff High School class of 1950, and attended (HCJC) Henderson County Junior College, graduating with an Associates of Science in 1952. She had moved to California for a short period, and returned to Athens, and attended HCJC from 1962 to 1964, graduating from the Vocational Nursing Program.  She became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in 1982 for numerous nursing homes throughout Texas.  She married Henry Ford Davis 1987. She was a mother to many in Henderson County. Peggy founded a agricultural scholarship in memory of her son Tracy Lemons in 1999.  She was supportive of numerous charitable organizations. She was a master gardener, and was a fantastic seamstress, always looking forward to making her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a natural artist, and everything she touched was a work of art.

Preceeding her in death is her husband of 43 years, Henry Ford Davis, Sept. 25, 2012, son, Tract Lemons, 1999,  brother, Lyndell Hatton, 2011, sisters, Doris Townley, Candace Archer, grandson, Cody Lemons, 1985.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Jody and  Lisa Lemons, Russell Lemons, all of Brownsboro, daughters, Carol Hurley, Lake Athens, Connie Lemons, Lewisville, grandchildren, Philip Albright, Heather Dunn, Leslie Frentress, Courtney Lemons, Clayton Lemons, Lindsey Nation, Lucas Lemons, Taylor Lemons, Paige Lemons, great-grandchildren, Colten Monroe, Lexi Dunn, Lauren Dunn, Aiden Albright, Cassie Frentress, Adalyn Albright, Corey Nation, brothers, Donald Hatton and wife Bertha Ann, Murchison, Roger Hatton, and his wife Janelle, Kemp, Phillip Hatton, and wife Surita, Lewisville, sisters, Phyllis Curtis and husband Charles, Brownsboro, Sandra Mandijano, all of Brownsboro, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers are the grandchildren, Philip Albright, Clayton Lemons, Lucas Lemons, Isaac Nation, Gabe Frentress and Jeff Dunn.

Honorary pallbearers Mike Smith, and granddaughters, Heather, leslie, Courtney and Lindsey.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family request that memorials be made to the Tracy Lemons Scholarship Ag Scholarship Fund, c/o First State Bank, Brownsboro, TX 75756

Family will receive friends from 5  p.m. to 7 p.m.,  Tuesday at the funeral home.
