Brenda Faye Jackson

Athens — Brenda Faye Jackson of Gun Barrel City passed away on April 19, 2012 after a courageous fight with cancer. Brenda was born March 11, 1942 in Athens, and was a life-long Texan. She worked for the Richardson Independent School District as a school secretary for 25 years before retiring to Gun Barrel City with her husband, William, to build and operate the Kwik Kar Oil Lube and Car Wash.

Brenda loved to take motorcycle and RV trips with her husband and friends. She has been from Alaska to California, Georgia to Pennsylvania, and many places in-between. She also enjoyed cruising and took many trips through the Caribbean and to Alaska.

But for Brenda, home was a very special place as well. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed shopping, and gave back to her community through First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City, the Lost and Found Sunday school class, Cedar Creek Women’s Club, library club and Eastwood Island Alohas.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Clovis and Miniver McKnight.

She is survived by husband of 51 years, William Richard Jackson, daughter and son-in-law Dena L. Jackson and Robert L. Kersey, daughter and son-in-law, Kristal D. Booth and Rueban Booth and brother and sister-in-law, Reginald Jackson and Janese Sampson.

She was truly the light of all of our lives. Thank you Mother for all you gave to us. We love you.

In lieu of gifts, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Benevolence Fund at the First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City or to Operation Kindness Animal Shelter in Dallas.

Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City on April 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with a celebration of Brenda’s Life Reception to follow the service.
