Marlin Ray Germany

Marlin leaves behind his loving, precious wife and best friend of 56 years. He also leaves: his oldest son, Gregg Germany and wife Jeannette, Van, baby boy Jeff Germany and Frank Thompson, Ennis; his baby girl Dede Sims and husband Paul, Martins Mill; seven grandchildren Miranda Davis, Karyn Germany, Chris Germany and wife Stephanie, Kasi Dickerson, Brandon Dickerson, Aaron Sims and Kyle Sims; great-grandchildren Marshall, Macy and Mia Davis, Elizabeth and Tucker Germany; two brothers Charles Germany and wife Jean, Rayville, La., Raymond Germany and wife Nelda, Haughton, La., two sisters-in-law Donna Germany, Georgia and Tillie Germany of Oklahoma. Martin lived in Athens the majority of his life where he was a member of First Church of God. Having been raised in Martins Mill, he has many dear old friends from that time in his life. He retired three times, the first being from TXU after a 26-year tenure.

Marlin was an avid golfer, spending many hours at Athens Country Club. His second favorite pastime was riding his custom-made Harley Davidson. Anything he did in life, he did it with gusto and made it fun. All of his kids and grandkids and great-grandkids will always remember him as being a fun Dad and Big Daddy. He made so many lasting friendships in his 75 years.

Funeral services are 2:30 p.m., Saturday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home with Larry Fryer, Larry Tart and Brad Sides officiating. The family asks that if anyone would like to share memories of Marlin, please be prepared to do so when called upon, as Marlin had many great stories to be told.
