Athens – Memorial services for Ruth Rogers, 74, of Athens are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Bro. Jonathan Lilley officiating.
Mrs. Rogers passed away on May 13, 2014 in Athens, Texas.
Ruth Ann Rogers was born February 14, 1940 in Carrollton, Missouri the daughter of Lee Monk and Evalyn Godina Monk. She was a Member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Athens and of the Red Hat Ladies Society. Ruth loved to sew, cook and travel. Grandma’s most special time was spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Adam Weatherly, a great grandchild, Janessa Weatherly, a brother, Marvin Godina and a sister Tammy Godina.
She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Roy Rogers of Athens; her children, Doug Franz and wife Michelle of Grimes, Iowa, Natalie Franz and husband David Lansman of Grand Junction, Iowa, Scott Donahue of Moorehead, Minnesota, Jennifer Staples and husband Daniel of Tyler, Texas, Amy Cook, Sarah Rachel, Katy Kellum and husband Craig all of Athens; brother Lee “Skeeter” Winchester of Klamath Falls, Oregon; sister, Judy Winchester Dean of Destin Florida; fourteen grandchildren, Scott Weatherly, Molly Finstead, Miranda Donahue, Brianna Donahue, Hayden Rachal, Preston Chitty, Austin Cook, Cora Staples, Andrew Staples, Patrick Franz, Amanda Franz, Skylar Prater, Baby Girl Kellum and two great grandchildren, Felicity and Ariana.
A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 A.M. on Thursday. May 15, 2014 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
