MALAKOFF-Memorial services for John Edward Clay, 73, Malakoff, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Cross Roads with the Rev. Frank Upchurch officiating.
John died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 in Palestine. He was born July 16, 1940 in Pittsburg. John was a Veteran of The Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1972. He was a boat house builder for years. He was a Bingo caller for years for the Odd Fellow Lodge in Athens, member of the Free Masons, lifetime member of the VFW. John loved to hunt and fish. He was Baptist by faith.
John is preceded in death by his fathers, Lois Clay and Garland Hardin, mother Marjorie Hardin, wife Betty Jean Clay, Jan. 13, 2010.
Survivors include: brothers, Dean Hardin and wife Cheryl, Groesbeck, Henry Hardin, Longview; brother-in-law Kenny Gann; children, Laura, James and Eddy Malley, Judy Zuke, whom he loved like a daughter; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
