MURCHISON- Funeral services for Ernest Cornett, Jr., 92, Murchison are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday Dec. 3, 2013 at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary McSpadden and the Rev. Mike Littlefield officiating.
Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens.
Mr. Cornett died Friday in Athens.
He was born April 6, 1921 in Dallas to the late Ernest William and Kate Monke Cornett. Mr. Cornett was a hog farmer in Shady Grove for 20 years before moving to Murchison in 1970 where he began his passion of cattle ranching. He was a hard-working man who loved to be outdoors, tending to his cattle and farming. He always made time to visit with his friends and family, which he loved so much. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include: sons Lynn Cornett and wife Nancy, Murchison, Kenneth Cornett and wife Debbie, Murchison; daughter Carol Lynn McSpadden and husband Gary, Branson, Mo.; grandchildren Michelle Smith and Shawn McSpadden both of Nashville, Tenn., Telena Pate, Murchison; great-grandchildren Alyssa Pate, Alexis Pate, Kendon Pate, Chase Smith, Cole Smith, Carley Smith, Taylor McSpadden and Brooks McSpadden; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Pate, Shawn McSpadden, Rickie Pagitt, Tommy Barton, Nickey Brockway and Ron Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Douglas Curran, Chase Smith, Cole Smith, Brooks McSpadden and Kendon Pate.
Visitation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
