Athens — Sylvia Gayle Mages was born Jan. 18, 1946 in Baird, and went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2013 at the age of 67 in Tyler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and sister. She is survived by her husband David of 48 years, son Les Mages (Teri Mages) and daughter Therese Wunderlich, three grandchildren Leticia Goodrich, Shelby Smart and Chelcie Fisher, and three great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Nicole, Georgia Grace and James David.

Gayle donated her body to Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in the hopes that there would be discoveries made to help others by her contribution.

There will be a memorial service held at Grace Baptist Church of Tyler on Saturday April 20 at 2  p.m. in Fellowship Hall (back parking lot).

In lieu of flowers, a savings account has been established for James David and Georgia Grace. All monetary donations will be accepted on behalf of the family at First State Bank Athens - “David Mages for the benefit of Georgia and James David.” The mailing address for Athens Bank is: Athens Bank, P.
