Athens —
Patsy Ann (Ellington) Young was born in Arlington Texas, Nov. 4, 1940 to Bennett Farrell and Irene Ellington. Raised on their dairy farm which is now Six Flags Over Texas, Patsy graduated from Arlington High and UT Arlington.
Always a beauty, Patsy married her high-school sweetheart, John Marcus Young, and taught school while he attended medical school in Galveston. They began raising their children in Athens, and later moved to Alpine.
She was the epitome of the Good-Hearted Woman—standing by her man through Fourth of July Picnics, and Willie, Waylon and the boys invading her home during the infamous 1977 Black-Eyed Pea Festival in Athens.
What a life!
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years, Dr. John M. Young and her eldest daughter Kimberly Young.
She is survived by her brother, the Rev. William F. Ellington (Patt), her daughter Kristy Stubbs French of Dallas, sons John Michael Young of Red Oak, Bohn Young (Brandy) of Brownwood, Sloan Foster (Amy) of Austin, grandchildren Phin Stubbs III, John Marshall Stubbs, Jack French, Lilly French, Bryce Sawyer, Brett Sawyer, Sofie Young and Brynlee Young, caregiver Deborah Tubaya and numerous nieces, nephews and Youngs.
Visitation will be Monday 29 October, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis St., Arlington. Funeral services will be held at Moore Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday Oct. 30 at 12:30 p.m., followed by burial Moore Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers for Patsy will be Tommy Frizzell, Bryce Sawyer, Brett Sawyer, Phin Stubbs, Jr., John Marshall Stubbs, Jarrett Vick, Joe Whatley, and Matt Meek.
