Ruthie Lee McCoy, 87, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013 in Athens.
Ruthie Lee was born in Anderson County on July 13, 1926 to John Nolan and Ruby Jane (Hilton) Berryhill. She grew up in Anderson and Henderson counties. She graduated from La Poynor School. She married Jessie "Jake" McCoy, and they made their home in Henderson County.
She was a member of the Mid Way Baptist Church of Anderson County. She enjoyed quilting and taking care of family.
She is survived by sons, Jim McCoy and his wife, Melinda of Sugar Land Henry McCoy and David McCoy; daughters, Brinda McCoy of LaRue and Linda Folmar and her husband, Gordon of Frankston; 15 grandchildren: 15 great-grandchildren: one sister, Jean Redding of Irving; and one sister-in-law, Janice McCoy of Oklahoma City, Okla.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jessie "Jake" McCoy in 1963 and two sons, Garry McCoy and Jerry Wayne McCoy.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 from noon until 2 p.m. in the Mid Way Baptist Church of Anderson County. A Celebration of her life will take place at 2 p.m. in the Mid Way Baptist Church with the Rev. George Folmar and the Rev. James Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Mid Way Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
