Athens — Private graveside services for John Curtis Watson, 86, Athens were held at 3 p.m.. Monday in Oaklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Charlie Jackson officiating.

Mr. Watson died Nov. 25, 2012 in Athens.

He was born Aug. 25, 1926 in Murchison to the late Charles Edward and Savanah Arizona Brown Watson. He was a lifelong resident of Henderson County. He retired from Revere Smeltering Refinery in 1988 after a 30-year tenure. J.C. served in the U.S. Army during World War II with a tour in the South Pacific.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Nelson in 2001, one brother and two sisters.

Survivors include wife of 42 years, Ethalene Bostick Watson, Athens, son, Curtis Watson and wife Sheila, Athens, daughters, Diane Caughron, Alba, Judy Brown and husband Donald, Tyler, grandchildren, Curtis Watson, Charles Watson, Amanda Nack, Ashley Gonzales, Cindi Bivens and four great-grandchildren.
