Funeral services for Wynelle Wofford DeGnath will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with the Rev. Bill Nowell officiating.
Mrs. DeGnath was born in Athens on July 8, 1930 to William and Thelma Wofford. She was the great-grand-daughter of two pioneer families of Athens and Henderson County.
She was a graduate of Athens high School and Henderson County Junior College. She married Dr. William DeGnath of Athens on March 15, 1952. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and serviced as organist for three years.
She was a substitute teacher at Athens High School for many years, and served as a Special Education Instructional Aide in the elementary schools of Athens. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens as a child and later, was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Athens.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Wynelle and James McDonald of Gresham, son Robert (Bob) DeGnath of Tyler, and son William (Bill) DeGnath of Birmingham, Ala., grandson Ryan Blake Richardson of Dallas and one niece, Vicki Price Eubank of Longview.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
