Services for Richard "Pete" Womble, 81, of Eustace, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Eubank Chapel with the Rev. Altos Womble and the Rev. Richard Womble officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
Burial will be in Chinquapin Cemetery, Van Zandt County.
He passed away April 5, 2013 in Athens.
Mr. Womble was born April 21, 1931 in Van Zandt County, to James Madison and Tommie Ruth Trussell Womble.
Richard grew up in the Walton Community, and graduated from the Martins Mill High School in 1949. He started Womble Drilling Co. in 1986. Richard enjoyed his cows, squirrel hunting, barbecue, and making homemade ice cream.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mae Dell Womble and daughter, Susan Womble.
Surviving are: son, Charlie and Patricia Womble of Eustace; daughter, Ruthie and Tim Fetterman of Mansfield, La.; daughter, Betty Abendroth of Athens; daughter, Kathy Myers of Charolette, N.C.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Avery and JoAnn Womble of Tyler; brother, Horace and Nelda Womble of Athens and Robert Womble.
Pallbearers are Robert Womble, James Womble, Travis Womble, Cooper Fetterman, Brandt Etheridge, Corry Fetterman and Craig Fetterman.
Honorary bearers will be Skipper Myers, Ange Shedd, Amanda Wilcox and the Womble Drilling Co. employees.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
