ATHENS-A Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Ernest J. Sartor, Jr., 79, Athens is scheduled for noon Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 in St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Pancras Savarimuthu as Celebrant.
Mr. Sartor died Jan. 16, 2013 in Athens.
He was born July 10, 1933 in East Williston, N.Y. to Ernest Joseph and Frances Josephine Kollmer Sartor. Ernest had been a resident of Athens since 1982. as well as a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church. and founding member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 10524. He was a 4th-degree Knight. His Catholic faith and St. Edwards Catholic Church were a cornerstone of his life. Ernest was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill Sartor, a member of the Marianist Order.
Survivors include wife of 49 years, Patricia Sartor, Athens; daughters Jenn Kay and husband Craig, Spring, Sarah Tinsley and husband Chris, Athens; son Chris Sartor, Norwich, Vt.; brother Bob Sartor, Milford Conn.; sister Jane Oakley, Va., grandchildren Jessica and Caitlin Sartor, Abigal and Taylor Kay, Amelia, Liam, Sean Tinsley and two great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at the church with a recitation of the rosary beginning at 7 p.m., Friday.
In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to Samaritan Project, 201 St. Thomas, Athens, TX 75751.
