ATHENS-Services for Don Carter, 69, Athens, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Copeland officiating.
Burial will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in Van Zandt County.
Mr. Carter passed away Jan. 30, 2014 in Athens.
He was born Jan. 12, 1945 in Orange to Findlon Adolph and Leola Blackwell Carter. Don was a lifelong resident of Athens. He worked five years for Child Protective Services, and had been a parole officer for Tennessee Colony. He also served as Adult Protective Services worker for 18 years. He was proud owner of Don’s Bug Barn.
Survivors include son Dustin Carter and wife Cassie, Athens, and girlfriend Lisa Russell, Eustace.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Anderson, Alan Foster, Jason King, Chad Blackwell, Damon Blackwell and Cabbol O’Reliy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Adair, Bill Galagher, Cliff Bowden, Billy Gray and Ray Brown.
Visitation for family and friends will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
