Lema Marcine Pennington was born Aug. 30, 1923 in Murchison to the late Henry A. Lambert and Maude L. Bateman, and was one of 10 children.
She moved from Texas to California as a young bride, and traveled with her husband Dr. E. L. Pennington across five states, planting new churches for 45 years.
They returned to Texas in 1986 to retire, but planted five more churches in Henderson County, spending another 26 years there. They were married 71 years until Dr. P died in April of 2013. Marcine died of colon cancer at the age of 90 on Dec. 22, 2013.
She is survived by her middle daughter, Dorethia (Dottie) Smith, who now resides in Tucson Ariz. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter Dorothy Jean in 1942, and her youngest daughter Carla Ruth Johnson (Penny) in 1975. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Angel Valley Funeral Home in Tucson Ariz. Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. Mountain Time.
