Services for Eugene “Nick” Pharris Fields, 69, Winona, formerly of LaRue are scheduled for 3 p.m., Wednesday, at Carroll Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Brad Crawford officiating.
Mr. Fields died Jan. 11, 2014 in Tyler.
He was born July 21 1944 in Houston. Following graduation from LaPoynor High School in 1962, “Nick” earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Lamar State College of Technology in Beaumont.
He served a 40-year tenure in the oil and gas industry retiring in 2009, while at Yates Petroleum in Gillette, Wyo. After retiring, Nick moved back to his native East Texas.
Nick married his best friend and the love of his life, Kathleen Hogan on June 28, 1980. She preceded him in death in 2009. The joy of their life, a daughter, Spring, was born Feb. 13, 1981. Nick enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include: daughter, Spring Wilkins and husband Luke, Gillette, Wyo.; brothers, Homer Pate, Tyler, Ronnie Pate and his wife Kim, Tyler, Keith Pate, Livingston; sister, Dot Landis and husband Steve, Athens; two grandchildren, Olivia and Eva Wilkins; numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Pate, Don Mitchell, Steve Landis, Kenneth Gauntt, Cleo Hickman and Nealy Dickerson.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Joseph Martin and Eduardo Mendoza.

A procession to the cemetery will leave Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home at 2:15 p.m.
