Athens — Services for Edward L. Anthony, Eustace, were held on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Weeks officiating. Interment followed at Goshen Cemetery in Eustace.

Edward was born on July 21, 1933 in Eustace on the Anthony Home Place to parents Odis and Beatrice Margaret (Gatlin) Anthony, and entered into eternal rest on Jan. 2, 2014 at the age of 80.

Edward served 12 years in the U.S. Army. During his service in the Army he was in the Korean War. He did five years active and seven years in the reserves. He was Master Chief of the 156 Tank Batalion and 49th Armored Division. Edward married the love of his life in June of 1956 at his parents’ home in Seagoville. They were married 47 wonderful years.

Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Aline Anthony, who passed in 2003.

He is survived by: his daughter Mary Etta Stringer and husband Gary of Forney; sons Christifer Lee Anthony and wife Caren of Eustace, Eddie Layton Anthony and wife Carrissa of Athens; grandchildren  Chadd and Amy Anthony of Mesquite, T.J. Stegall of Longview, Christin and Robert Whittenberg of Gun Barrel City, Tracy and Victoria Stegall of Seagoville, Ashlee and Jeff Murphy of Gun Barrel City, Cade Anthony of Eustace, Tiffany Anthony of Tool; step-grandsons Clayton Stringer and wife Jacqueline and Bryan Pruitt; step-granddaughters Amberly Rose Stringer and Stephanie Pruitt; sister Margaret Beatrice Moore of Seagoville; brothers Glen Kenneth Anthony of Eustace, Daniel (Dan) Lee Anthony of Hutchins, Don Paul Anthony of Desoto; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving family members and a host of many friends.
