Doris J. Sanches, 83, passed away in Athens on Dec. 31, 2013.
Doris was born in Neches on March 3, 1930 to Charlie Eugene and Alta (Hosea) Bradshaw. She grew up in Fairfield and attended Oak Grove Schools. In November of 1945 she married John W. Sanches, and they made their home in Fairfield before moving to Athens.
She worked for Vasserette as a seamstress and for Argon in assembly. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Cayuga. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, crafts, but most of all she loved nurturing her family.
She is survived by: sons Johnny Sanches and his wife, Ruth of Chandler, and Sammy Sanches of Vernon; daughters Lila Stroud of Athens and Anna Van Den Broeke and her husband, Rick of Troup; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral home of Malakoff. A Celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at noon in the Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel of Malakoff. Pallbearers will her eight grandsons.
Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery of Athens under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
