Carroll Gene Maberry, formally of Athens, passed away on Oct. 2 in Atlanta, Ga. he was born June 21, 1939 in Alvarado. Carroll was a dedicated Athens City Councilman and business owner for many years, beloved father and papa, avid Dallas Cowboy fan.
He was preceded in death by: parents Gene and Lucille Maberry, Athens; son Leland Maberry, Clarksville, Tenn.; brothers Jessie Mayberry, Fort Worth and Bob Maberry, Athens.
He is survived by daughters Cindi Maberry, Atlanta, and Alicia Daniel, Cross Roads; daughters-in-law, Linda Maberry, Athens and Deb Maberry, Atlanta; son-in-law Derek Daniel, son Michael Kimmons, Tulsa; sister Liz and John Freeman; sister-in-law Sherrie Maberry, Fort Worth; grandchildren, Adam and Tracie Maberry, Aron and Elizabeth Maberry, Amanda Maberry, Kennedy Maberry, Jessica Kimmons, Colton, Connor and Bree Daniel; great-grandchildren Gavin, Isabell, April, Olivia, Ella and Abby; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial will be Saturday, Oct. 13 at the First Baptist Church in Cross Roads. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., and a short service led by Pastor Frank Upchurch will follow at 2 p.m.
