Larue - Memorial Services for Gary L. Howell, 71, of Larue, Texas are scheduled for 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens.
Mr. Howell passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 in Panama City, Fla.
Gary Lee Howell was born on Sept. 10, 1942 in Coalinga, Calif. to Claude Howell and Margie Rena Ferrill Howell. He was a Baptist and a family man. Farming and family were his life.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law, brother-in-law and uncle, and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eugene Howell.
He is survived by: his loving wife Sheryl of Larue; one daughter, Shelly Matkin and husband Charles of Mt. Pleasant; three sons, Gary Howell, Jr. of Larue, John Howell and wife Vicki of Lindale, Jason Howell of Ketchum, Ida.; father-in-law, Arlie Atwood of Larue; sister-in-law Kaye C. Klinchuch and husband Monte of Bakersfield, Calif.; brother-in-law John Atwood and wife Cheri of Sanger, Calif.; sister-in-law Ivetta Howell of Washington; nine grandchildren, Mitchell Matkin, Kristian Matkin, Kirk Rosenbaum, Elias Howell, Laci Howell, River Howell, Evan Howell, Kiley Howell, Shelbii Lugten; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Howell, John Howell, Jason Howell, Melvin Sims, Bobby Markholt, Charles Matkin, Elias Howell, Evan Howell, Mitchell Matkin, Kirk Rosenbaum, John Atwood, Monte Klinchuch and River Howell.
Services were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family.
