Mildred J. Bishop Stephens

ATHENS — Services for Mildred J. Bishop Stephens, 84, of Athens, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Urban officiating.

Interment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

Mrs. Stephens died Dec. 4, 2007, at South Place Nursing Home.

She was born March 6, 1923, in Rapides Parish, La., to the late Wilbur Gordon and Jettie Toney Gatlin.

She worked for Curtis Mathis as a bookkeeper and assisted establishing the Curtis Mathis Credit Union. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ollie Stephens; sister, Marie Hawthorn; and brother, Wilbur Gatlin.

Survivors include her son, David Bishop and wife Linda, of Baton Rouge, La.; daughter, Jeannine Lang and husband Raymond, of Bronson, Texas; grandchildren, Michelle Fontenot, Chuck Bishop, Jenny Bishop, Joey Bishop, Dawn Andress, Michael Lang, Stephen Lang; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends 10 a.m. Thursday to service time.

The family wishes to express their special thanks to the entire staff at South Place Nursing Home who dearly cared for Mrs. Stephens.

Robert Milton Murphy

Funeral services for Robert Milton Murphy, 75, of Malakoff are scheduled for a later date under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.

Burial will be held at DFW National Cemetery.

Mr. Murphy died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Cedar Lake Nursing Home.



James G. Lewis

Funeral arrangements for James G. Lewis, 57, of Brownsboro are pending with the Cooper Funeral Home of Athens.

Mr. Lewis died Tuesday afternoon in Athens.
