The Henderson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting that left a victim with a wounded leg, Lt. Pat McWilliams said Monday in a statement.

At approximately 1 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a call in the far western end of Henderson County. Donald Ray Snider, 45, was found beside his Toyota Tundra pickup in front of his residence at 12061 County Road 2141. Snider had suffered a wound to the leg and was transported to East Texas Medical Center Tyler for reconstruction surgery, according to McWilliams. He was last listed in fair condition.

Monday morning, a warrant was issued charging Donald Craig Poindexter, 36, of Trinidad with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Poindexter and Snider are thought to be brothers-in-law and are alleged to have previously been involved in some type of dispute. No further information was available at press time Monday.

Poindexter was taken to the Henderson County Jail, where he was to remain until seeing a judge to possibly have bond set.
